Dr Ian P Wade

IPW's career has focused closely on the study of meteorology and oceanography since beginning a degree in environmental sciences in 1988. After graduating in 1991 he began a PhD in physical oceanography, investigating the roles of Subarctic Intermediate Water in the north-east Atlantic, successfully completing this in 1995. He then undertook a three year post doctoral position between 1995 and 1998 as the physical oceanography specialist in a major interdisciplinary study into bio-physical relationships in the North Atlantic Ocean (PRIME - Primary Reactivity In the Marine Environment). During the completion of his PhD and subsequent post doctoral post he has gained experience of sea going oceanography (North-west approaches, Rockall Trough and Iceland Basin), produced publications in the refereed scientific literature and lectured in physical oceanography at the University of East Anglia.

Since leaving academia in 1998 he has worked in the commercial sector of oceanography, first with Fugro GEOS Ltd and now with PhysE Ltd. In 1998 IPW began working in Fugro GEOS Ltd's SEADATA division where he specialised in the provision of metocean criteria for the offshore industry. This work included the use of a variety of statistical analysis methods, technical report writing and close liaison with clients.

IPW joined PhysE Ltd in 2002 where he continues to provide high quality, independent metocean services predominantly for the oil and gas industry.

Past projects have included the provision of metocean criteria to support design and operational work for a range of offshore installations in the North Sea, West of Ireland and offshore Brazil. Also an eddy tracking programme offshore Trinidad.
